Hello, students! Welcome to your first year of language arts at High Point Regional High School. On this blog, you will be able to find information about class activities, weekly assignments, and important due dates. Please become comfortable with using this blog. It will especially come in handy if you are absent from school and need to find out what was missed, or if you accidentally misplace your planner. This year, you are taking an English class called College Prep World Literature. We will read novels, plays, short stories, and poems from authors around the world. You will develop your writing skills through assignments such as freewrites, journal entries, and formal papers. We will also have plenty of group work and class discussions so that we can learn about each other and from each other by the sharing of our ideas, beliefs, and opinions. Overall, this is a challenging course that may be very different from your previous English classes, but you will learn many new skills and have fun along the way. Please keep in mind that I am available for extra help after school; don’t hesitate to see me if you are having trouble! I look forward to meeting you, and I hope that you are excited about starting your first English class at High Point.
